So after a week of fiddling about this and that I found a way how to set up Oculus DK2 on a Windows 10 Optimus laptop.
I don’t know if anybody finds this helpful, but hopefully they do, because I’m writing solely for this purpose.
What I did:
First I installed the Oculus 0.8 runtime. It sorta kinda worked but it didn’t accept my HMD because… well duh, Optimus. Uninstalled everything. Proceeded with 0.6 runtime. It successfully broke my Windows and I successfully fixed it. When I managed to get 0.6 runtime to work (don’t install it on compatibility mode for Win8, just don’t) it did recognize my HMD but didn’t recognize my sensor (well it did but the sensor full on BSOD’ded my PC seconds after plugging it in). Bummer. So after uninstalling everything yet again I installed the 0.4 runtime. IT WORKED.
But here’s the tricky part. When you install the 0.4 runtime DO NOT RESTART YOUR PC (or you’ll have a bad time). Go to Add or Remove Programs and uninstall the Oculus video driver. Don’t touch the camera driver though. Now you can restart your machine.
If you did it correctly, you’ll be able to see that the Config Util detects your hardware and when launching demo scene it will say that the video driver isn’t there. Ignore it, it works anyway.
Now I’ll try to get it to work with SteamVR (if possible at all). Any tips on that would be appreciated.
P.S. I got the old runtimes here https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/6gnfv2/i_found_some_old_oculus_runtimes_from_044_to_08/
